Synopsis:

Rhiannon Thomas's dazzling debut novel is a spellbinding reimagining of Sleeping Beauty and what happens after happily ever after.

One hundred years after falling asleep, Princess Aurora wakes up to the kiss of a handsome prince and a broken kingdom that has been dreaming of her return. All the books say that she should be living happily ever after. But as Aurora understands all too well, the truth is nothing like the fairy tale.

Her family is long dead. Her "true love" is a kind stranger. And her whole life has been planned out by political foes while she slept.

As Aurora struggles to make sense of her new world, she begins to fear that the curse has left its mark on her, a fiery and dangerous thing that might be as wicked as the witch who once ensnared her. With her wedding day drawing near, Aurora must make the ultimate decision on how to save her kingdom: marry the prince or run.

Rhiannon Thomas weaves together vivid scenes of action, romance, and gorgeous gowns to reveal a richly imagined world … and Sleeping Beauty as she’s never been seen before.

Can I split this into categories? My favorite YA books are Code Name Verity and The Gemma Doyle Trilogy. My favorite classic is Emma. My favorite Harry Potter book is Order of the Phoenix (because HP deserves a category of its own). I have a lot of favorite books.

Right now, probably The 100. Of all time, Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

Tangled. Or Pirate of the Caribbean.

Right now, Taylor Swift’s cover of Riptide

Cadbury’s chocolate.

Oooo, I think Nikolai from The Grisha Trilogy. Or Bellamy from The 100.

It’s from The Last Unicorn by Peter S. Beagle:

“The true secret in being a hero lies in knowing the order of things. The swineherd cannot already be wed to the princess when he embarks on his adventures, nor can the boy knock on the witch's door when she is already away on vacation. The wicked uncle cannot be found out and foiled before he does something wicked. Things must happen when it is time for them to happen. Quests may not simply be abandoned; prophecies may not be left to rot like unpicked fruit; unicorns may go unrescued for a very long time, but not forever. The happy ending cannot come in the middle of the story.”

Pretty much everything. A Song of Ice and Fire, Disney, my ships (right now mostly Clarke/Bellamy and Jaime/Brienne), Taylor Swift, Bioware video games, Natalie Dormer, Harry Potter… waaaay too many things.

Definitely JK Rowling. I just love her. Otherwise, I think I’d resurrect Jane Austen, but I’d be a bit scared that she’d destroy me with scathing observations.

You guys are AWESOME!

Hello Rhiannon! We are super excited to host you in our FFBC.

I’m super excited to be here. Thanks so much for having me!

A Wicked Thing is a retelling of Sleeping Beauty, beginning at the moment when Sleeping Beauty wakes up. The whole world has changed while she was asleep, and now everyone is saying that the random stranger who woke her up is her “true love” and they’re supposed to get married and live happily ever after.

She’s not entirely happy with this plan.

The Little Mermaid. I was absolutely obsessed, both with the Disney movie and with the original Hans Christian Anderson version. It was always a story about adventure and achieving your dreams to me – not about her dream to be with the prince, but her dream to be human and get to explore the human world.

I love-love-love Anna’s dress for the coronation in Frozen. Or Rapunzel when she goes to see the lights and has her hair braided with lots of flowers. Gorgeous.

One word: dragons.
