"They called it a thinning of the blood. Though most of our ancestors' magic had slowly weakened, it still left us the ability to hold sway over humans."

Aern is one of this people who has the ability to sway humans to do what he wants. Some of his people, treat humans like puppets, others like Aern don't. And the most frightening thing of all, is the prophecy that could destroy the world that Aern knows. Well, that is if his brother is the boy in the prophecy. He is done watching his brother try to rule the world, destroying everything in order to obtain it. So when he finds out that Morgan knows who is the trigger of this prophecy, he does everything to protect her from him. What he never expected was that Brianna had a twin sister, Emily.
Stubborn and determined Emily, doesn't care about anything else, but to save her sister from the person who kidnapped her. So she does the only thing she can: go after Aern.
Running from Morgan's men to the Division, where they could be safe, becomes a far more difficult job that non of them have planned. To make matters worse, truth starts to unravel itself and Aern starts to realize that Brianna might not be the only one who could be in danger. With a secret war exploding around them, they find a far bigger secret that would put Emily and Aern in more danger.

This urban fantasy, full of magic, action and romance, did not disappoint us at all. In fact we were inside Melissa Wright's dangerous world within seconds. Not knowing what is going to happen or who to trust is one thing essential in this story and the unavoidable chemistry between the two main characters is the spark in the book that makes you want to continue until the end.
At first, we were dying to know more about this mysterious world. It was so frustrating not knowing things...! But then, slowly, the author gives you pieces and pieces of the prophecy, of Aern, of Emily... and you keep wanting to know more. We were really glad to read some action for a change and Melissa Wright made us enjoy with her story. We love that Aern is a hottie, badass, willing to save a damsel in distress in order to protect the world and that our supposed damsel in distress is as badass as our knight. Emily is strong, determined and stubborn. She did not believe in everything her mother said, but she did it anyway so she could keep her sister safe. She is definitely not one of those girls that when something happens they start screaming and crying. She would get up and kick some asses with her knives.
The prophecy is mind-blowing and Morgan is ruthless and cruel and is willing to show it to everyone who is not in his side. With a thirst for power, Morgan is a villain that would make you tremble and fear him. We really hate him, because he makes suffer our beloved characters, but at the same time we don't want him to die. Is a mix of feelings that only this author could evoke to us.
Finally, we want to highlight the fact that the characters do not experience insta-love. It is refreshing and wonderful to see how they earn their trust for each step by step and that our feminine figure does not throw herself into the boy's arms at the first opportunity. We are madly in love with this couple and hope we soon know more about them, because the end of the book made us have goosebumps! (in a good sense, of course).
We are happy to say that we are in love with Wright's writing and we tell you, Book Addicts, that you do not want to miss this wonderful story. So make a little space in your wish list and/or in your to-read shelf, because you are going to be captivated by it as we were.
