Synopsis:

It started with unspoken animosity. The bitter bite of jealousy. And now its full blown hate.

It was during my first football game that I first felt the first chill of hate. I looked it right in the eyes and felt its sticky tentacles reach out for me. I’d never experienced something so cold and empty before.

The effect of that look lingered, like an unspoken promise, long after it was gone.

Becoming a couple – becoming the other half of a campus celebrity wasn’t easy. I let down walls guarding my heart and he looked past my glasses and accident prone tendencies. Romeo and I are an unlikely match, a #nerd and a jock. But we made it.

And we’re happy.

Zach doesn’t want us to be happy. He wants Romeo to pay for getting him kicked out of Omega and for the night he spent in jail. He’s going to use anything and everything he can to get his revenge. Including me.

As the weather on campus grows cold and the days become dark, revenge becomes the center of someone’s life and the happiness Romeo and I worked so hard for is threatened.

I can’t help but worry that our love is going to be overshadowed by hate.

#Hater is the second book in the Hashtag Series and is definitely a worth reading book.

I was afraid that the second book in this series, since it was a continuation from the characters from the first book and they pretty much had their happy ending, might spoil my love for Romeo and Rimmel, but once again, Cambria Hebert proved me how good of an author she is.

In this new Hashtag book, we get an insight of how good Romeo and Rimmel can be as a couple and how they live keeps going after they have reached their happy ending in #Nerd. However, as any other couple, they have problems, even though not relationship problems, Romeo's fame around campus threatens a bit Rimmel and her insecurities and then there's Zach, he's not happy with Romeo about what he did in #Nerd and is willing to make him pay.

I was expecting some minor drama, but this book escalated quickly once the real problems started. And I think this is what brought this new story to a whole new level and what will make the Hashtag fans love this story as much as the first one. Because we have to remember that Romeo and Rimmel are not a conventional couple, so their problems and their drama should be as unconventional and mind-blowing as their relationship.

I found myself invested in the story more than in the first one, because this one exuded danger from every single page and I was dying to see how this one would end. And with an ending that would leave you breathless and with mixed feelings: on one hand, because it's an ending that Romeo and Rimmel's fans would accept, and on the other, because it's an ending that will twist this series and open the door for the following book in the series.

In #Nerd we get to meet the characters, get to know them and their story. But in #Hater we feel their passion, we immerse in their pain and feelings and we get to see them as a couple. Cambria Hebert did an excellent job and I am really looking forward to see what comes next!

“It’s not your job to protect me, Romeo.”

“You’re wrong.” I said, my voice leaving no room for argument. “It is and I will.”

“You’re my boyfriend. Not my bodyguard.” Her words were annoyed and I felt something behind them. But before I could question her she kept going. “He was just being a jerk. I tried to walk away and he stopped me. If I hadn’t fought against him I probably wouldn’t have a bruise at all.”

I felt my eyes narrow as I spoke dangerously low. “Are you saying it’s your fault Zach treated you this way?”

Letting her take any responsibility for this was something I would not allow.

She sighed. “I’m saying your being a drama queen.”

I laughed and raised my eyebrow. “Do I look like a woman to you?”

A fine pink blush spread across her cheekbones. “No.”

I took her face in my hands and tilted it up so I could stare into her eyes. “Listen to me. My reacting to someone putting their hands on you is not me being dramatic, it’s me loving you.”

“Oh, Romeo,” she sighed my name and my cock hardened.

I pulled her into my chest and wrapped my arms around her. “Being an asshole is just part of my charm, baby.” I said matter of fact, unable to keep the smile out of my voice. “This is just me loving you.”

“You love real good,” she mumbled against my chest, pushing a little closer.

I palmed the back of her head, holding her tight. It scared me how much I loved her sometimes. Just like the anger I’d felt just moments ago scared me. It was raw and intense. It almost bordered on hate.

And all of it. Every single flame of that animosity was directed at one man.
