Synopsis:

Perfect Couple is #2 in the Superlatives series about seniors at a Florida high school who are selected for their class's superlative categories in the yearbook, and how the labels change the way they view themselves and alter the course of their lives.

Can your heart be put to a popular vote?

As yearbook photographer, Harper is responsible for capturing those candid moments that make high school memorable. But her own life is anything but picture perfect. Her parents' bitter divorce has left her wondering what a loving relationship would look like. And ever since the senior class voted her and star quarterback Brody the “Perfect Couple That Never Was,” her friends have been on her case to ask Brody out.

Brody doesn’t lack in female admirers, but Harper can't see herself with him. He seems confused about why they were matched together, too. They’re total opposites—the last people in the world who would ever be compatible, let alone the “perfect couple.” Yet ever since the class paired the two of them, they've found themselves drawn together--first by curiosity, then by an undeniable bond.

The trouble is, though they're very attracted to each other and both of them admit this, they have a hard time getting along or even communicating clearly. If they’re the perfect couple, this shouldn’t be so difficult! Soon it becomes clear their class was wrong, and they throw in the towel. But after they walk away, both of them feel so changed from making the effort that they can’t forget each other. What if that means this match made in hell is the perfect couple after all?

Perfect Couple is a sweet story about two teenagers that could have been perfect for each other, but never had the chance due to how different they are. Until they are voted for the yearbook title: the "Perfect Couple That Never Was".

Perfect Couple is the second book in the Superlative series. We have met Harper before, but know in this book we have the chance to read her story. When I started reading the book I got mixed feelings,  mainly because the decisions that bring Brody and Harper together are not the smartest ones. However, there were some facts that kind of justified Harper's actions; like, for example her actual boyfriend being a utterly jerk (I didn't like him at all and I was all the time thinking that I didn't understand how these two could be together). Moreover, sometimes it's hard to remember that we are dealing with teenagers, and I remember that those golden years are hardly the ones you consider yourself wise and grown-up (although you think you are). So they make mistakes in how their relationship started, so what? They are teenagers! They make mistakes, they have new experiences and they fall in love. That's why I think Harper and Brody are "real" characters.

So the romance was kind of unexpected because these two have never thought about being more than friends due to their differences. However, you can guess that these two have been attracted to each other but never acted on it thanks to their own insecurities.
So their romance starts as awkward and trying to be more than friends and soon their realize how different they are, but how good they can be to each other. And the differences that once were looked as an impediment, now were what united them.

Jennifer Echols is a great author that writes great YA romances and in Perfect Couple she proved us once more why we like so much her stories. With a good plot, well-written and with another Superlative romance to make us swoon, I would put Perfect Couple in my summer reads and in my sweet-YA-romances pile, too, and tell you that this book is definitely one that you kind miss if you like these type of stories.
