It’s Renna’s biggest job yet – convincing MYTH leadership that she’s put away her lock picks and is ready to save the galaxy, despite the dangerous implant in her brain. But with the Athena on the run, she’s working solo and facing her most ruthless enemy, the traitor Pallas, who’ll go to any lengths to destroy the MYTH organization. Including framing Renna for a devastating assault on MYTH HQ that leaves their defenses crippled and hundreds dead.
Now that MYTH believes she’s a dangerous double-agent, Renna escapes their firing squad before they put more holes in her than a pair of fishnet stockings. But the ticking time-bomb in her head is the one thing Pallas needs to complete his master plan and he’s not about to let her get away. Even worse, he’s discovered the only thing that will bring Renna to her knees – threatening Captain Nick Finn.
Out of time and options, Renna’s got one shot to take down the traitor before he annihilates everything she loves, even though winning this battle may cost her everything.
Right now, I actually have a favorite series. I’m totally into the Kate Daniels series by Ilona Andrews – it has a kick-ass heroine, a steamy love interest and tons of action.
I’ve been on a Warehouse 13 kick lately. It’s a sci-fi show about a warehouse that stores magical artifacts and the team who has to go recover them.
Any version of Pride and Prejudice!
It changes daily, but right now I think it’s Bastille - Oblivion
Oh man. How can I choose just one? I guess if I *had* to narrow it down I guess I’d have to go with a classic – Mr. Rochester from Jane Eyre. He’s just so dark and angsty! LOL
“It is impossible to live without failing at something, unless you live so cautiously that you might has well not have lived at all, in which case you have failed by default.” J.K.Rowling
So Many Things! Lol. I guess most recently, the movie Guardians of the Galaxy. It was so funny and fantastic.
I’d have to go with J.K. Rowling. She just seems so cool and down to earth.
I am so grateful to all the bloggers and readers out there. They’ve been amazingly supportive and have pushed me to be an even better writer. Knowing people are looking forward to my books has been the best feeling ever, and the reason I keep writing!
Thanks so much for having me again! Athena’s Ashes picks up immediately after The Star Thief ends, and follows Renna as she tries to stop the traitor inside the MYTH organization, as well as trying to save herself from becoming a human-robot hybrid. There’s a bit of steamy romance thrown in as well!
I did a lot of looking around at Deviant Art for ideas on how aliens should look! LOL. It was actually a lot of fun to see how different people could come up with such different images of aliens. And it was kind of cool to try to mash a few of those ideas into ones that would work for my story.
Action Packed Space Opera Romance
The whole book is one situation after another for poor Renna, but I think the most dangerous situation she finds herself in is trying to learn to trust other people. She’s working with a team now, and has fallen in love with Captain Nick Finn, but she still doesn’t know if she can trust any of them. She’s too scared to get hurt.
I think I’d have to say the sparring scene between Renna and Alistair Blake. It was so much fun to write, and even better, it was a brief moment of pure fun for Renna, in the middle of a really stressful situation. Everything goes to hell immediately afterwards, but for that moment, she’s having a good time.
“She’d spent most of her life planning what would come next - an early retirement on a vacation world. But she knew no matter what happened, that would never work for her now. If she was really honest with herself, she was hardly the type to settle down. Either in life or relationships. Which made her current situation all the more confusing. Part of her wanted to see what happened with Finn. Part of her wanted to run the moment this was over. She wasn’t sure which part would win over at the moment.”
Complicated! Both of them have been scarred by their past and have a difficult time trusting anyone. And this definitely comes back to bite them later in the book. But at the same time, they genuinely care about each other, and have a connection that’s deeper than most.
I think Athena’s Ashes feels darker to me, more personal. There’s a lot more at stake for Renna in this book, and a lot more on the line, both personally and professionally. I think she’s started to realize her mortality, and is a little less cocky in this book as she realizes she might not be able to solve this problem on her own.
Yes! I hope so! If Athena’s Ashes does well, I have plans for a third book in the series. I’m also planning a spin-off series set in the same universe with a few of the characters you’ll meet in Athena’s Ashes. It’ll be a little more sci-fi romance than Star Thief, but it’ll still be fun and action packed J
Thanks so much for having me again, guys! It’s so great working with you!
