Waiting On Wednesday: Snow Like Ashes (Snow Like Ashes #1) by Sara Raasch

Snow Like Ashes (Snow Like Ashes #1)
by Sara Raasch
Publisher: Balzer + Bray
Release Date: October 14th 2014

Synopsis:

A heartbroken girl. A fierce warrior. A hero in the making.

Sixteen years ago the Kingdom of Winter was conquered and its citizens enslaved, leaving them without magic or a monarch. Now, the Winterians’ only hope for freedom is the eight survivors who managed to escape, and who have been waiting for the opportunity to steal back Winter’s magic and rebuild the kingdom ever since.

Orphaned as an infant during Winter’s defeat, Meira has lived her whole life as a refugee, raised by the Winterians’ general, Sir. Training to be a warrior—and desperately in love with her best friend, and future king, Mather — she would do anything to help her kingdom rise to power again.

So when scouts discover the location of the ancient locket that can restore Winter’s magic, Meira decides to go after it herself. Finally, she’s scaling towers, fighting enemy soldiers, and serving her kingdom just as she’s always dreamed she would. But the mission doesn’t go as planned, and Meira soon finds herself thrust into a world of evil magic and dangerous politics – and ultimately comes to realize that her destiny is not, never has been, her own.
Sara Raasch’s debut fantasy is a lightning-fast tale of loyalty, love, and finding one’s destiny.

The very first time I saw this book on Epic Reads, I was drawn to it by its gorgeous and promising cover, which I love 'cause the circle sign reminds me of a ying-yang symbol and it promises some kind of battle filled with magic and danger, right?
And the synopsis is simply mind-blowing and gives you good goosebumps, like the after reading/watching The Hunger Games goosebumps? Yep, those goosebumps. I was, and still am, kind of obsessed with this book and definitely wanting to read it at all costs (Who I need to bribe to get an ARC??) and it's definitely in my TBR shelf 'cause I know it's going to be one of those Epic Reads we love so much!

Scott’s world collapses when the only girl he has ever loved disappears with no word on her whereabouts. When he finally discovers where Jessie has been hiding, he also learns of her new relationship.
Will deceit tear them apart? Or can Jessie and Scott survive their mistakes and choose to love and to cherish?

Honestly, I can't wait anymore for this book. I'm an unofficial Wanted Series addict and I miss the whole gang. I want to read more about Gunner, Ellie, Ari, Jeff, Heather and Josh *cry* and can't wait to read Scott's excuse for what he did at the end of Faithful (sorry, not telling!). But one thing I can tell you, I now, after reading Kelly Elliot's books, that there would be hot, romantic and swoony cowboys in it, full of drama and romance that would make you want to read more books in this series. So, of course I'm waiting for this book! But... do I really have to wait any more time? *cry again*.

Meanwhile I'd listen to the official Cherished Playlist. Just saying that the first song really explains my mood with this waiting *wink*

Waiting On Wednesday: Such Sweet Sorrow

Such Sweet Sorrow
Publisher: Entangled Teen
Release Date: February 4th 2014

Synopsis:

Never was there a tale of more woe than this of Juliet and her Romeo…But true love never dies. Though they’re parted by the veil between the world of mortals and the land of the dead, Romeo believes he can restore Juliet to life, but he’ll have to travel to the underworld with a thoroughly infuriating guide.

Hamlet, Prince of Denmark, may not have inherited his father’s crown, but the murdered king left his son a much more important responsibility—a portal to the Afterjord, where the souls of the dead reside. When the determined Romeo asks for help traversing the treacherous Afterjord, Hamlet sees an opportunity for adventure, and the chance to avenge his father’s death.

In an underworld filled with leviathan monsters, ghoulish shades, fire giants and fierce Valkyrie warriors, Hamlet and Romeo must battle their way through jealousy, despair, and their darkest fears to rescue the fair damsel. Yet finding Juliet is only the beginning, and the Afterjord doesn’t surrender souls without a price…

This is not a difficult question to answer. Juliet, Romeo, Hamlet and the underworld? Do I have to say more? I love Romeo and Juliet's stories and this one seems the kind of story I'd really enjoy.
I know sometimes it's hard to read about Juliet and Romeo outside the original story or Hamlet, but some authors write amazing stories using these characters. I'm still re-reading Stacey Jay's stories about Romeo and Juliet and loved it and that's one of the main reasons I give a chance to these books.
Jenny Trout's debut novel not only has a beautiful cover, but it also screams "amazing read" just by reading the synopsis. And I can't definitely wait to get my hands on this particular book!

Waiting On Wednesday

Well, it's been a while since I haven't done a Waiting On Wednesday, but since 2014 is coming and there are so many books I can't stop fangirling about, that I thought it would be nice to feature those books each Wednesday and see what you think.
So first WOW 2014 book is a New Adult book:

In the Lyrics
Release Date: February 7th 2014

Synopsis:

Hensley Bradley is the definition of the girl-next-door. She’s kindhearted, beautiful, and talented. Bored with her mundane life, thoughts of fleeing her small town begin to consume her. With aspiring dreams to use her voice as a one-way ticket, she suddenly discovers that music might not be her only passion.
After a fallout back home, Colby Grant decides to leave his family’s farm, determined to show his father he’s more than just a wanna-be country singer. With his All-American good looks, it doesn’t take long for girls in his new town to focus their eyes on him. But things aren’t what they appear from the outside, and it isn’t long until Colby feels he doesn't fit into the perfect world that so quickly embraced him.
A chance encounter places Hensley in Colby’s path, but it isn’t her natural beauty that first captures his attention – it’s her voice.
When love and music mix, will the combination blossom into a beautiful melody or wither into a heart-wrenching tune?
Warning: This book is intended for readers 18+ due to explicit language and sexual encounters.

Well, I love new adult stories and this looks like the kind of book I would really enjoy. Is this also your book, Book Addicts? Plus there's music in it, right? Love it.
