Abigail Conrad has spent her whole life training for one goal: to win the roses at the Arabian Youth Nationals. She’s given up friends, a social life, and doesn’t have time to even think about guys -- much less date!

Now that she’s headed off to college in the fall, it’s her last chance to be a Youth National Champion, and she won’t let anything distract her from that dream.

Except maybe Chase, the older brother of Abigail's biggest rival. He’s charming, funny, and possibly Abigail's biggest problem. How can she focus on riding when her mind keeps wandering to Chase’s green eyes and confident smile?

With her dream on the line, Abigail had better learn to fight her growing attraction to Chase, or she might end up losing the roses and the guy.

Secondary Characters
Release Date: May 2013
Publisher: Swoon Romance

Synopsis:

When Mabel's best friend, Amber, drags her along on a double date she finds herself falling for Lance, the obnoxious class clown whom she swore she'd have no interest in. The only problem is, she's not sure if she's really the girl Lance is into, or if, like every other guy she knows, it's really Amber he's after. One thing is clear, if Mabel wants to be the lead in her own love story, she needs to start acting like it.

Don't Fall
Release Date: May 2014
Publisher: Swoon Romance

Synopsis

In which a teenage girl endures the over-protective love of her adoptive mother until she falls for a boy who has her wanting to spread her wings, pitched as a contemporary retelling of Rapunzel.

Seventeen-year-old Anya leads a very secluded life in a house on the edge of town with her adopted mother. She doesn't go to school, but instead has a private tutor. Her over-protective mom keeps her so sheltered that she doesn't even have a best friend.

But Anya doesn't seem to mind. She has her books, her photography, and her daydreams, and would do anything to please her mom. Until one day at the library, the only place she's allowed to go, she takes a picture of a beautiful boy.

Before long she's lying to her mom, and sneaking out late at night to meet Zander. But Zander wants more than a secret romance. If Anya wants to be with the boy of her dreams, she will have to risk her relationship with the only other person she's ever cared about.

Rachel Schieffelbein grew up in a tiny town in Southeast Minnesota reading books, riding horses, and participating in speech and theater. She is now married with four kids and enjoys reading books, riding horses, and coaching speech and theater. If it ain't broke, don't fix it! She enjoys writing characters she can relate to, ones she would want to hangout with, or fall in love with. She hopes her readers will love them, too.

Synopsis:

Deception So Dark is the complete second novel in the Run to You series, a riveting thriller about a family on the run from a deadly past, and a first love that will transcend secrets, lies and danger…

With no more secrets to keep them apart, Tessa and Tristan embark upon a desperate search to find her missing brother and sister. But not even Tristan can keep Tessa safe from the hostile classmates at her new school…or from the nightmare that haunts her even while she's awake. As Tessa's nightmare becomes all too real, her hope of getting her family back together feels ever more out of reach. When a psychic warns her that leaving town may mean her death, Tessa still cannot stay when she uncovers a potential lead to her brother and sister. Not even if she must go alone and risk losing it all: Tristan, her family, and even her life.

Run to You is Tessa and Tristan's story—two full-length books about psychic gifts, secret lives and dangerous loves. Danger. Deception. Betrayal. It must be true love.

This scene takes place during Tessa’s first day at her new high school. Her family is on the run from a killer hired by the government, and they flee from town to town, hiding behind aliases to stay alive. Tristan is the boy she met on the jogging trail the day before:

At lunchtime, book bag hanging on my shoulder and tray clutched in my hands, I scanned the cafeteria. The charred scent of burned beef and a thin layer of smoke hovered in the air. The room was packed wall-to-wall with tables, each jammed with rowdy students. The only empty table was in the corner by the large window. It was isolated, but I needed to sit near an exit.

There. Two boys, one wearing a blue Chicago Cubs shirt and the other wearing a white one, got up from a table semi-close to the exit, leaving it empty. I rushed over and claimed it, then opened my Spanish notes and pretended to study. Occasionally I’d peek at the other tables, but no one was looking at me. Perfect.

“It’s Sarah, right?”

I looked up—broad chest and shoulders, confident smile, blue eyes. Tristan Walker. So much for invisibility. “Yeah. Sarah.”

He didn’t seem to notice the way my voice tightened when I said my fake name. Instead, he placed his lunch tray down and climbed into the seat across from me.

“I—” Before I could say anything to deter him from eating with me, he took a bite of his cheeseburger.

“I had Physics with your sister this morning,” he said, swallowing his food. “She said you were a little overwhelmed. I don’t blame you. This place is huge. She asked if I would show you around.”

So instead of claiming Tristan for herself, Jillian had decided to play Cupid. She’d tried to set me up in Vermont, and in Nebraska and Montana, too. I did like the boy in Montana. He was sweet, and funny, and the most talented artist in the school. Jillian, remembering that I used to love painting, had made a good match. But it wasn’t the boy—it was me. Everything I said to him was a lie. I was a lie.

Tristan took a handful of fries, dipped them in a paper cup of ketchup, and ate them all at once. “Will you be in Twelve Lakes long?”

“Probably not.” I picked the green peppers from my salad. “The longest we ever stayed in one place was fourteen months. The shortest was six days.”

“Six days? What town was that?”

“I don’t remember.” That was true. “My mom registered us for school, but we didn’t even get to start before we had to leave again.” Dennis Connelly had tracked us down that time through our internet use, and we hadn’t used the internet since.

I slid my hands into my sleeves. I had to stop talking. I’d already told him too much.

Between bites of cheeseburger and fries, Tristan chatted about his friends, his spot on the TLC tennis team, and deciding between Northwestern and Stanford. I wanted to respond, but all I could do was nod and give him weak smiles. The girls at the next table were watching us. Everyone in the lunchroom was watching us. Whispering. Pointing. Sitting with Tristan was making me visible. The glow-in-the-dark kind of visible. The cafeteria seemed to become more crowded by the second. Everything became hazy, like a cloud had settled over the room.

“Are you feeling okay?” Tristan’s brows furrowed.

I blinked to quell the dizziness and mumbled something about first-day jitters. When the bell rang I jumped up, almost tripping over my feet, and scurried out of the lunchroom.

Clara Kensie grew up near Chicago, reading every book she could find and using her diary to write stories about a girl with psychic powers who solved mysteries. She purposely did not hide her diary, hoping someone would read it and assume she was writing about herself. Since then, she's swapped her diary for a computer and admits her characters are fictional, but otherwise she hasn't changed one bit.

Today Clara is the author of romantic paranormal thrillers for young adults. Her first book, RUN TO YOU, a super-sized three-part serial from HarlequinTEEN, begins February 1 2014 with weekly releases. The sequel, also a super-sized three-part serial, begins June 1 2014.

Her favorite foods are guacamole and cookie dough. But not together. That would be gross.

This is the first question about Second Glance, the second book in the Run To You series Part I. To answer it, you can go to Clara's Facebook page:

Because she has no psychic powers of her own, Tessa's family sees her as weak and breakable. When she tells Jillian and Logan her idea to email the college professor, how do you think this changes the way they think of her?
