Synopsis:

Roe Gamble is speechless when he first lays eyes on Mac. Normally, pretty girls are his specialty but not this girl. From this girl, he wants more. More of everything. More than she can give him. Most importantly, more time to show her how he feels about her.
But time is working against them in more ways than one.

I love stories like Take a Gamble about first love. And even more if it's a summer romance. Rachael Brownell did an excellent job and wrote a pretty enjoyable summer read that's definitely a must read one.
Mac is simply a girl with a a loving family. Nothing out of the extraordinary or something that would make the reader be sad about it. She's just a girl trying to break free with her pictured perfect summer vacation. Instead, she's stuck with her whole family in Myrtle Beach. And for a teenager, that completely sucks.
The fact that the character is so "real" makes the story beyond believable and it's one of the main factors that made me enjoy it so much. Mac is a girl you easily like and quickly create that reader-character bond so important in every book to completely immerse into the story.
Roe is one of those guys you like instantly. Not only because you know it's the "other" main character of the story and you know it's the one with the potential to make you fall in love, but because he's the type of fictional boy I like. He's got this rebellious touch and he can have every girl he wants and he knows it. He's good and he also brought a grin from me.
In Take a Gamble you "live" Mac and Roe's relationship: from the very first meeting to the end. And reading how they fall in love throughout the whole story and what moments lead to that important event, it's what makes this story so good.
This is definitely a summer love story you have to read. It's beautifully written and that led to one of those romances that leaves you a goofy smile on the face and makes you want to re-read all over again. My advice? Buy this book, go to the beach and have one of those beach-reading days. At least, that's what I'm planning to do as soon as I finish my exams: re-read this amazing love story!
Rachael Brownell was born and raised in Kalamazoo, Michigan, where she currently resides with her boyfriend and son. She is a graduate of Grand Valley State University where she studied Advertising and Public Relations.
In 2005, Rachael met the love of her life, Jeremy. Then, in 2007, they welcomed their only child, Nicklas. When Nicklas started Kindergarten, Rachael decided to indulge herself in her passion for writing again. Her first two books, Holding On & Unglued, were picked up by Tate Publishing. Rachael decided that she also wanted to self-publish some of her work. She was able to make that dream a reality in November of 2013 when she published A Secret Life.
When she’s not working, building Lego’s or writing her next book, Rachael enjoys scrapbooking, photography and is an avid reader.
