Synopsis:

It’s all fun and parties until someone falls in love in this modern fairy tale from author Kate Evangelista.

Caleb desperately needs a fake girlfriend. Either he attends a series of parties for his father’s law firm with a pretty girl on his arm, or he gets shipped off to Yale to start a future he’s not ready for and isn’t sure he wants. And sadly, the last unattached girl in his social circle has just made the grievous mistake of falling in love with him. Fortunately, Didi, recently fired waitress and aspiring painter, is open to new experiences. As the summer ticks by in a whirl of lavish parties, there’s only one rule: They must not fall in love!

When I’m writing, I see the characters as they are in my head. I know what they look like. I know what they sound like. It doesn’t really hit me to pick actors and actresses to play them until after the book is done.

I first fell in love with Dominic Sherwood in Taylor Swift’s Style video. But, at the time, I didn’t know who he was. I didn’t even equate him to Caleb until one of my editors pointed him out as a possible peg. Since then I couldn’t get him out of my head. Especially now that he’s killing it as Jace in the Showdowhunters series. He can definitely play the moody, broody rich boy from Dodge Cove.

With Didi, I think Hailee Steinfeld would embody her beautifully. She has this innocence that will show well when Didi enters Caleb’s world for the first time. Yet she also has a spunkiness and pluck that would bring Didi to life. I can already see her with paintbrushes in her hair and in Didi’s painting overalls.

For the fabulous Nathan, I see Nicholas Hoult playing him. Besides those piercing eyes, I believe Nicholas has the acting chops to play a character this flamboyant yet stay authentic to who Nathan is. I absolutely loved him in Warm Bodies. And he seems like a great counterpoint to Dominic Sherwood’s more serious demeanor.

Our swimming god Preston must be played by Liam Hemsworth. I mean he already has the body for it. Come on, the guy surfs during his free time. He can definitely fit into the shoes of someone training to be an Olympian. Plus watching him on screen being all silent and mysterious is a total delight. And I just want to be a degree closer to Thor. Just putting it out there.

I see Cara Delevingne playing a beautiful Natasha. She and Nicholas Hoult already share the eyebrows and the eye color so they can definitely play twins. At the same time, I have a HUGE girl crush on Cara. She embodies a powerful, sexy woman who isn’t afraid to show her vulnerable side. She would make a great debutant.

For Jackson, who isn’t seen in No Love Allowed but is mentioned, I see William Moseley playing him. If you’re a fan of the Chronicles of Narnia, you already know who he is. Seeing him as a rebellious EDM DJ? Come on! That is totally hot. And he would look so good on screen with Cara. All I can hope for is they have chemistry.

I hope they all have chemistry because this adaptation needs to happen. We need to see these characters come to life on the silver screen. Let’s put the thought out into the universe and see what happens.
