Synopsis:

Before:
Kelsey and David became best friends the summer before freshman year and were inseparable ever after. Until the night a misunderstanding turned Kelsey into the school joke, and everything around her crumbled—including her friendship with David. So when Kelsey's parents decided to move away, she couldn't wait to start over and leave the past behind. Except, David wasn't ready to let her go...

After:
Now it's senior year and Kelsey has a new group of friends, genuine popularity, and a hot boyfriend. Her life is perfect. That is, until David's family moves to town and he shakes up everything. Soon old feelings bubble to the surface and threaten to destroy Kelsey's second chance at happiness. The more time she spends with David, the more she realizes she never truly let him go. And maybe she never wants to.

Told in alternating sections, LAST YEAR'S MISTAKE is a charming and romantic debut about loving, leaving, and letting go.

It’s hard to believe that it’s already December, and in a few short days, LAST YEAR’S MISTAKE will be six months old. And then, my debut year will be over. Getting published has been a crazy ride, and a ton of fun. I still can’t fathom that people who’ve never met me have taken the time to read my book, and that some of them go out of their way to contact me and tell me how much they loved it.

One of the questions I see a lot in those messages is, Will LAST YEAR’S MISTAKE become a movie?

There are no plans for a LYM motion picture at the moment, but I’ll be honest – I may have entertained a fantasy or two about it. And since I have very specific images of my beloved characters in my head, I thought I’d share my dream cast. So, without further ado, here are the stars of…

LAST YEAR’S MISTAKE…… THE MOVIE!

Kelsey

In my mind, Kelsey has always been Ashley Benson. She has such a wide-eyed, innocent face that can be both sexy, and understatedly beautiful in a girl-next-door kind of way. And to David, the girl next door is literally what Kelsey is.

David

The first time I saw a picture of Sean Faris, I had no idea who he was. All I knew was that he looked so much like the David I saw in my head, I thought I’d dreamed him into life. And if I did… you’re welcome.

Ryan

My first sighting of Max Thieriot was another freaky moment. My husband was channel surfing, and clicked past a movie called My Soul to Take. I jumped up from the couch and yelled, “Go back! That was Ryan!” I watched the scene with my mouth hanging open, totally agog that a real human being so closely resembled one I thought I’d only imagined. This cocky smirk on Max’s face in this picture is the perfect embodiment of Ryan.

Isabel

Victoria Justice would make a fantastic Isabel. She’s not the nicest character, but she’s undeniably beautiful. The perfect raven hair, the flawless smile. Picture her in North Face ski attire, and you’re ready to read one of Isabel’s most underhanded scenes in LAST YEAR’S MISTAKE.

Uncle Tommy

Don’t ask me why, but Jesse Tyler Ferguson has been Kelsey’s travel-loving uncle in my head since day one.

THE FULL CAST

And that’s my dream cast! If you’ve read LYM, I’d love to know who *you* pictured as the characters – and what you think of my picks!

I’m also running a Reviewer Appreciation Giveaway on my blog through 12/9/15. So if you’ve posted a review of LYM to Goodreads or your own blog, you can win free books just by copying and pasting it (or by writing up & posting a quick new one) to Amazon or Barnes and Noble. Details here.

Can’t wait to see what 2016 will bring!
