Synopsis:

It’s all fun and games…until someone’s heart is broken.

They’re not kids anymore, but Milo Caro is certain that Colton Mathews will only see her as his best friend’s little sister for the rest of their lives. After all, he made that clear the night before she left for college. But four years later, her brother is getting married and Colt’s the best man—and guess who is the best man’s last-minute date?

Milo vows to use the wedding to either claim the smoldering firefighter’s heart or douse this torch for good. When Max—her best friend from college, who may be carrying a torch of his own—crashes the party, they devise a plan to make Colt see what he’s missing. But after Colt catches on, he decides to cook up his own revenge.

Now it’s personal. Colt and Milo are at war, and between Max’s questionable acting methods, an unfortunate trip to jail, and a maniacal fiancée, what could possibly go right?

I would describe The Consequence of Loving Colton as a sweet, chaotic and funny read with it's ups and downs and with a lot of frustration between the two main characters.

To sum up the story a little bit, Milo and Colton has always been friends. Colton is also friends with Milo's brother and that is just a problem for them. Milo's sick of being Colton's best friend, so when she goes to college she leaves for good. Until she has to come back to her brother's wedding. A mistake puts Max, Milo's other best friend, into the story as Milo's recent boyfriend and that's when Colton snaps.

The story was a good one. Rachel Van Dyken's writing style was present in every moment and they characters were unique and memorable. But the story got crazier and crazier as it arrived to the end. I mean crazy in a good way, but I think I was as frustrated as the two main characters for not having a single alone moment. I remember yelling from time to time: "Oh, come on!".

I was truly invested in Milo and Colton's relationship. It's one of those romances were the main characters have had feelings for each other for a log time and until one of them sees that he/she is going to lose their soulmate that doesn't step forward and pour his/her heart out. I loved every single moment of Milo and Colton's banter. How they pulled and argued, but still had that sexual tension and attraction between the two of them. However, to my liking, their surroundings were a bit way surreal. The whole situation was a bit too comical.

Overall, The Consequence of Loving Colton was a good read and a sweet one. I was truly happy when it ended and it truly brought a smile to my face even after all that frustration I was talking about before.
