Synopsis:
Mal Ericson, drummer for the world famous rock band Stage Dive, needs to clean up his image fast—at least for a little while. Having a good girl on his arm should do the job just fine. Mal doesn’t plan on this temporary fix becoming permanent, but he didn’t count on finding the one right girl.
Anne Rollins never thought she’d ever meet the rock god who plastered her teenage bedroom walls—especially not under these circumstances. Anne has money problems. Big ones. But being paid to play the pretend girlfriend to a wild life-of-the-party drummer couldn’t end well. No matter how hot he is. Or could it?
Kylie Scott returns with the highly anticipated follow-up to international bestseller LICK.
Play is the second book in the Stage Dive series and Mal's story, the drummer of the famous rock band Stage Dive. Saying this story is hot, hilarious, sweet and passionate, is not saying enough.
Mal and Anne meet at a party in David Ferris' house in Portland. Anne friend left the apartment they shared without a word and not returning the money she owed to Anne.
Mal has a secret and he just needs a girlfriend. Anne's selflessness is what makes him decide that she's the best candidate.
These two end up living together in Anne's apartment and what started as a fake relationship turns out to be something more serious and intense that they both were expecting.
Mal's the best. He's a rocker and he's the full life of a rocker. Plus he's funny. No, not funny. Hilarious. I had a smile on my face from the beginning to the end of the story, and it only faltered when I had to laugh out loud. He's kind of boyish and sometimes has a childish attitude without losing his rockstar and alpha male attitude. He's my favorite Stage Dive member and I can understand teenage Anne, with all his posters all over her bedroom.
Anne's a good girl. So much that even her friends take advantage of her goodness even in her worst moments. So I completely agreed with Mal when he told her that she needed boundaries. I like that she's a fan of Stage Dive, to be more accurate, a fan of Mal. And that she has those "crazy eyes" just for him.
Together they had this chemistry that made you see how good were for each other even before they realized it.
The plot was a fresh one and definitely not similar to the first book. Having glimpses of the other band members throughout the story made the book a Stage Dive story. And it was nice to see the beloved couple from Lick in this story and to read about how their romance is in full force even after they had "their happy ending" in Lick.
Play was definitely a page turner. I couldn't stop reading until I knew all about these two. Their romance is one of those stories that you have to read about: intense, passionate, sexy and definitely uproarious. The author also focus in some drama that's haunting the two main characters, and I bet that's one of the main things that made Play pretty interesting.
I highly recommend this book to all those rock star romance addicts who want a womanizer and funny rock star to melt their hearts. I am definitely one of those crazy Stage Dive fans and I can't wait to read more book in this series.
Read my review for Lick
Kylie is a long time fan of erotic love stories and B-grade horror films. She demands a happy ending and if blood and carnage occur along the way then all the better. Based in Queensland, Australia with her two children and one delightful husband, she reads, writes and never dithers around on the internet.
