Synopsis:
Tamar Rosenfeld has been in love with New York Leopards linebacker Abraham Krasner since they were twelve years old. She'd always considered it destiny that they'd end up together…until Abe was drafted and she professed her feelings in a moment of blind excitement. The sting of his rejection was like nothing she'd ever felt before, and it's nothing she'll ever forget.
Older and wiser, Tamar has landed a dream job as a reporter for one of New York's premier athletic websites. Determined to stop being the safe, boring girl she's felt like for most of her life, Tamar makes a list of all the things she wants to do and see in her new city, and Getting Over Abraham is priority number one.
But destiny has finally chosen to interfere. Just as Tamar's decided to move on, Abe's realized she's the only woman for him. When he confides the truth, Tamar has to decide if she can put her crush behind her, or take a chance on the very man who's been holding her back all these years.
I have been dying to read this book since I started the New York Leopards series. Simply because this is Abraham's story and we get to finally met the girl who has stolen his heart so long ago!
Abraham's a sweet and tender guy, so I his story couldn't be any other than sweet and swoony. And Allison Parr definitely wrote a story for Abraham that totally made him justice.
Tamar Rosenfeld's one of those girls who fell in love with her best friend and to make matter worse both their families are like a one big family. So there's no chance to hide when you confess to the guy you are in love with him and he rejects you.
After a couple of years apart and not knowing from one another, Tamar and Abraham find each other again in New York: Tamar's working as a reporter for one of New York's premier athletic website and Abraham's in the New York Leopards as a linebacker. So yes, they get to see each other a lot.
Tamar's determined to get over Abraham's once and for all, but being over her sexy first love when he wants her, might be kind of complicated.
I loved this story. Is a second chance at love and a tribute to those romantic stories where the guy tries to make the girl fall in love all over again (although Abraham didn't need a lot of help with that).
The two main characters are simply amazing. They are the younger couple so far in the series, so I kind of related more to them. Tamar is the perfect representation of every girl who fell in love with her best friend. She's sweet, good, smart and kind, without loosing her attitude towards some problems and determined to do what she believes is the right thing to do. You find yourself easily liking the girl and you get deep into the story thanks to her.
And Abe's simple the perfect guy every girl's dream boy. He's sweet, funny and determined to have Tamar as more than friends and amend his mistake when he was younger and didn't follow Tamar.
I might have wanted a little bit more "resistance" from Tamar, because it was "too easy" for Abe to get her back. Although, that's exactly what happens when you're madly in love and you cannot control your hormones, right? So I can forgive her. And I would have also wanted to follow more closely her bucket list.
As for the story in general, I liked that we get to be "inside" Tamar's head, the girl who steals Abe's heart, but since this is Abe's story I would have wanted to also be "inside" his head. I think that applies to all the books in the series: I also want to know what the boys are thinking! I'm kind of in love with them, that's why.
The ending's simply perfect. Something you'd expect from a love story like Tamar and Abe's. So I can tell you that when I finished the book I had a big goofy and dreamy smile in my face and I re-read the ending twice. Definitely the best ending of the series.
Without a doubt, this story was the sweetest story in the New York Leopards series and one you don't want to miss. Tamar and Abraham are perfect for each other and you can easily see it as soon as you get to know both characters. I like to see the New York Leopards gang grow and include into the girls "team" such a sweet girl like Tamar is.
I highly, highly recommend this book to those romantics out there who want a sweet story to read. Abe would melt and steal your heart and you'd want to have Tamar as a friend! You definitely have to read it. And I will anxiously wait for more books in this series, 'cause there are more players in the team and I can't wait to read about their stories!
Jeff Tomsik as Abraham
Lily James as Tamar
